Welcome to Spring Term!

Kipper's Birthday

This term our driving text is 'Kipper's Birthday' by Mick Inkpen.  

This half term we will be learning about celebrations, following on from celebrating Christmas, we will explore other celebrations, learning about celebration around the world.

We will look at how children have changed on their birthday each year and recall some ways they have celebrated each milestone.

We will learn the text using a storymap and actions to support memory and for the first time will change some characters to make our own story.  As children learn more phonemes they will be encouraged to use these in their writing.

We are learning letter sounds using our phonic scheme 'Supersonic Phonic Friends'.

We follow White Rose Maths.

At King's Gate Primary school we expect all children to read at home everyday and a minimum of four times per week.

In addition to reading, please practise the flashcards that we send home to support learning and feel free to ask if you have any questions at all.
